The benefits of asphalt over concrete for your driveway?

Did you even know there were? It’s okay, many don’t. But guess what!? We will inform of THREE REASONS why asphalt is better for your driveway than concrete:

  1. It only takes a day or two to lay asphalt for your driveway, whereas concrete takes twice as long to lay and even longer to set. Concrete can take a week to cure, while asphalt can take as little two days to be ready upon completion.
  2. Because of the flexibility of asphalt, it is considerably less likely to crack over time than concrete. Concrete driveways tend to flake or “spall.” Oftentimes that is an ongoing issue when you choose concrete over asphalt, especially when installed too quickly.
  3. Asphalt is quite easy to repair if you do get any linear cracking. Your local home improvement stores carry inexpensive, easy-to-use crack sealant that you can apply on your own, even without any paving expertise. You can also take regular preventative maintenance measures such as general up keeping, sweeping, sealcoating, and crack filling to extend the lifespan of your driveway to at least 20 years. Because concrete can’t be heated and repaired like asphalt, it’s a lot more difficult to maintain.

So, if you are looking to replace your driveway, or needing to add one to your new home, take these facts into consideration to make an educated decision.
